Arrogance vs Self-confidence

People often says "there is a thin line between arrogance and self-confidence". Well, I can't agree to it. There is a vast difference between them.

Arrogance as defined by Merriam-Webster "an attitude of superiority manifested in an overbearing manner or in presumptuous claims or assumptions."

Self-confidence is "confidence in oneself and in one's powers and abilities" (Merriam-Webster).

Traits of arrogance:-

1. Actively show one's superiority over others.
2. Tends to impose values on others.
3. Does not take advice by others.
4. Often brags about own achievements.
5. Tends to demean others.
6. Cocky.
7. Insecure.
8. Normally disliked.
9. Does not respect others.
10. Does not really know own ability.
11. Often over inflates own ability.
12. Always think that one is perfect.
13. Offensive.
14. "Nothing is impossible" attitude.
15. Egocentric.

Traits of self-confidence:-

1. Does not think too high of self.
2. Does not show off.
3. Can mix around.
4. Respect others.
5. Accept other's opinion.
6. Knows own ability.
7. Does not brag about own achievements.
8. Accept that one is not perfect.
9. Understands and accept own weakness.

It is true that many people can't differentiate between them but one thing can be assured. Nobody likes arrogant people.
