Sengkang Riverside Park

Sengkang Riverside Park is situated near Punggol. It is a relatively new park which is split into two by a river. It does not have much facility in the park and is mostly used for walking or jogging.

This walk starts from Farmway LRT. Within a short distance, the park is reached.
This is probably the only prominent human made structure here that can be viewed far away.
The eastern part of the park is quite empty. Except for the newly planted trees, there is practically nothing there. Luckily, I am looking for trees and plants. Thus, it is still quite interesting to look around.

The very first tree I met is one of those I could not find the name.

The next plant I found is actually not from the park. It is found growing over the fence of a nearby construction site. This Butterfly Pea is a very small flower.

The next tree is Brownea capitella. The purplish thing is not a flower. It is also a leaf.

Kayu Matahari is one tree whose name I am not very sure.

Thus far, the trees are pretty small. Some has already grown more than twice my height. Unfortunately, my Android camera cannot zoom in to take the picture.

The next few trees are probably originally grown there. This Peacock Flower tree looks very nice.
Sea Hibiscus is a curious flower tree. It's flower is yellow yet there is another reddish one on the same tree. I really not sure if the reddish one is a flower.

The Oleander is a beautiful pink flower. It is found behind the Senkang Sports Centre on the PCN.

This Flying Goldfish Plant is also found nearby.

The Putat Laut is a very tall tree. Luckily the foliage is low enough to take picture with.

There is a bridge linking the eastern half of the park to the western part. There are plants with flower grown on the middle island but is not accessible.
You can find papyrus plants along the other half of the bridge. This one is Papyrus Sedge.
This is one plant that has a name tag. Its name is found on the name tag. Unfortunately, the name plate is not made to last. It has already worn out quite badly.

After the bridge, I cam across a lonely oil palm tree.

This Palmyra Palm is also standing alone.
The Putat Kampung tree is already bearing fruit. Its flower can still be seen on the ground.

We normally eats banana but never expect some specie being used as decorative tree. This Bronze Banana is very small. It is currently shorter than two meters.

Musa Onata Purple is from the same family as the banana tree. It is also ornamental. You can see some tiny banana below the flower.
Bunga Lidah Kucing looks like a trumpet flower unless you get a closer look.

This part of the park is again divided into two by a road. The crossing is near the river.

You can find a Carambola plant growing after you have crossed over to the other side of the park.

There is a lake at this side of the park. Unfortunately, there is no access to the lake. Took a panoramic view of the lake on the far side of the park earlier.
The route leads back to the path connecting to the previous part of the park. En-route, I found this tiny flower whose name I have not found.
While across the road, I took a picture of the Mushroom restaurant there.
This Duranta plumiera is a small shrub.

The outer part of the park on this side is quite barren except this palm lined section. There are shrubs in between the palms.
Since there isn't much to see here, and the return trip is similar to the entrance route, there is no more picture taking. The route ends at Farmway LRT.

You can find the route with waypoints as plants here at WikiLoc. (click on the word to go to the site).
